Goal

  • Train and up-skill as many people as possible to become qualified workers.

  • Provide household financial education and training to keep more people financially healthy when they find employment.

Actions:

  • Collectively identify the most prominent career avenues in which to direct dislocated workers in the 757. This will include the determination of the hard-to-fill positions in local industry that, through programmatic training and credentialing, can be filled by this population of job-seekers.

  • Coordinate existing training programs and facilitate the development of new training programs that align directly with the most-needed open positions in Hampton Roads. Further align funding streams with apprenticeship and pre-hire programs that serve as talent pipelines into certain industries.

  • Achieve additional alignment by working with each partner in the HRWC local network of training providers and institutions of higher education to ensure that their offerings map directly to areas of critical need for businesses in the 757.

  • Build on Sentara’s support of Financial Opportunity Centers that support job and skills training with household financial education and training that keeps more people financially healthy when they find employment.

Accountability:

  • Key workforce training performance tracking numbers will be included on the Action Framework’s dashboard.
