Identify Future Talent Needs
GROW, RETAIN & ATTRACT TALENT
Lead Orgs:
Hampton Roads Workforce Council, the Alliance and ODU’s Strome College of Business
Goals:
Identify COVID-19 trends and related impact of the current climate on the 757’s employment base.
Identify early actions by competing locations in how they are leveraging these trends.
Better understand the talent pool needs of the future.
Actions:
Closely coordinate with the work of the RVA-757 Connects Megaregion. Pending a successful grant award from Go Virginia Region 4 and 5, RVA-757 Connects will launch a comprehensive workforce study. Key leaders across the 757 market will be on the study team.

The Hampton Roads Workforce Council, through GO Virginia grant funding, will be expanding its Talent Division to include a Director of Employer Engagement. Initially focused on the local maritime industry, this team will systematically determine both the real-time demand signal as well as the projected needs of industries across the 757.
Accountability:
By year-end 2021, create and present a report on COVID-19’s Impact on the 757’s Workforce Talent Today and Tomorrow with the 757 Action Framework Ambassadors.
