  • Attract the needed and qualified talent to the 757 market that complements available in-market talent to ensure that targeted industries and high-growth companies have the talent they need to drive the economy.

  • Carefully study the success of the newly launched maritime industry worker out-of-market recruitment campaign.

Expanding Maritime in the 757’s Economic Development: HRMC

The Hampton Roads Maritime Collaborative for Growth & Innovation (HRMC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit formed in 2020, with this mission:

“To provide thought leadership, alignment, and organizational structure that will identify, prioritize, and pursue impactful opportunities which meaningfully result in long-term economic development and innovation for the Hampton Roads maritime industrial base ecosystem.”

The collaborative is focused on economic development and innovation around the Hampton Roads maritime sector and will also work on initiatives involving offshore wind, coastal resilience, talent pipelines and supply base.

Their Executive Director is Nancy Grden, who was previously associate vice president of Old Dominion University’s Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

  • Explore ways to replicate similar marketing efforts supporting other industries. This may include the creation of a regional jobs posting website and a 757 lifestyle and cultural website.

  • It is anticipated that future target industry talent recruitment marketing efforts would be funded by corporate sponsors. The campaigns would lean heavily on the quality-of-life messaging.

  • Key workforce attraction performance tracking numbers will be included on the Action Framework’s dashboard.
