ADVANCE REGIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE
Lead Org:
HRPDC
Goal:
Create a region-wide approach to address recurrent flooding and sea level rise.
Actions:
- Support HRPDC’s efforts to establish a sea level rise authority.
- Calculate and package the business case to engage business leaders now. Tie into insurance and other costs.
- Develop long range (20 year) capital projects planning/budgeting process similar to approach used for transportation.

- HRPDC to convene business community and other stakeholders via group and 1:1s to address resilience/flooding/sea level rise (Virginia Commonwealth Flooding Board).
- Community and business organizations partner to support state and federal funding to address infrastructure needs.
- Support regional efforts to deploy flood sensors which would provide real-time transportation information and ensure motorists and transportation entities can more carefully move through the region during flood/storm events to help ensure business continuity.
Accountability:
Measure success by the degree to which a more regional approach is adopted.
